Hip Bump Sweep

sweepbeginnerGi & No-Gi

A powerful sweep exploiting when the opponent sits back in your guard.

The hip bump sweep capitalizes on your opponent sitting back or posting their hands on the mat in your closed guard. You sit up explosively, overhook one arm, and bump your hip into them to topple them over. If they post their hand to resist, you can switch to a kimura or guillotine. This sweep-submission chain is one of the most effective combinations in closed guard and teaches the importance of attacking in combinations.
