The berimbolo is an inverted movement from De La Riva guard where you invert underneath your opponent, use your DLR hook to spin them, and come up behind them for a back take. Pioneered by the Mendes brothers and the Miyao brothers, it revolutionized modern sport BJJ. The berimbolo requires excellent hip mobility, inversion comfort, and timing. It can also be used as a sweep to come up on top. It's the signature technique of the modern guard game.
