A judo-inspired trip hooking the outside of the opponent's leg while driving forward.
The outside trip (osoto gari) uses your leg to hook behind the opponent's leg from the outside while driving your upper body weight forward and through them. The combination of the trip and the drive makes it powerful even against larger opponents. It works particularly well from an underhook or body lock position. In BJJ, the outside trip is valued because it lands you directly in side control or mount, and the mechanics are simple enough to drill and apply quickly.
