- Off-balance and come up on sweeps
- Create frames and recover stronger guard
- For top player, flatten and pass
Common entries
- Guard retention during passing exchanges
- Recovering from side control pressure
- Top player getting one leg trapped during a pass attempt
Common mistakes
- Staying flat underneath with no inside frame
- Ignoring head position and underhook control
- Trying to attack without controlling distance
Gi / No-Gi: Half guard is central in both gi and no-gi, though underhook entries and upper body control often become more dynamic in no-gi.
