A hyperextension attack on the knee using the same mechanics as an armbar.
The kneebar is essentially an armbar on the leg — you trap the opponent's leg between your thighs, control their foot, and extend your hips to hyperextend the knee joint. Kneebars can be caught from top positions, leg entanglements, and even during scrambles. They pair well with heel hook entries as opponents defending one often expose the other. Learning kneebars develops your understanding of leg control and the ashi garami system.
