A rotational foot lock attacking the ankle and knee simultaneously.
The toe hold grips the opponent's foot (typically with a kimura-style figure-four) and twists it to attack the ankle ligaments and apply rotational stress to the knee. Toe holds are effective from 50/50, top half guard, and various ashi garami positions. They are a useful complement to heel hooks and ankle locks because they can be applied when the opponent is defending other leg lock entries. Control the knee line before applying torque.
